Position Description Summary 

The Electrical / IT Inspector will support LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.  

Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications 

  • Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction. Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector.Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years. Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years. Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72. Fall protection and harness training. 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Experience at the journey-level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings. 
  • Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects. 
  • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials. 
  • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards. 
  • Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency. 
  • A strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills. 

Essential Job Duties 

  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. 
  • Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards. 
  • Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities 

Education/Training 

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) 
  • For task on the Airfield, 3 years or more of experience with airfield lighting is required.
